The Locus in Quo |
He kicked the door in front of him open. More Skeletons.
His fellow escapees urged him to shut the door. They were almost naked and had already almost died at the hands of another group of skeletal archers. This group of skeletons would remain unmolested.
They had been stumbling around the castle for over an hour now. They did not remember much about who they were how they wound up prisoners. There were faint flashes of memory of course; but those consisted solely of being drained of blood and being drugged.
Fulray continued his agitated and furtive glances. They had stumbled upon the parapet of the castle and the castle was under attack. That much they had surmised. The clues they had were roving bands of enraged peasants and armed guards fighting them off. On the parapet were six human archers and the further enforced the notion that they were in a castle under siege. The archers were distracted shooting at peasants wielding torches and pitchforks. The archers lined the parapet and passed them was a door.
The door must have tantalized and enraptured Fulray because he rans straight for it. Now, peasant uprisings can take up most of a man's attention but there is always room for a man wearing only a codpiece and wielding a shield and a poker from a fire place.
In short, the guards noticed Fulray.
They turned and shot; five arrows bit at Fulray's mostly naked flesh. He almost made it. He almost touched the door, but the arrows drained his life away and he fell just short and was still.
The question that remained was "did the guards notice his companions?"
